See clearly again; up close, far away and everywhere in between, without glasses or contact lenses.

Over time, the eyes natural lens becomes hardened and prevents it from focusing as it once did. This inability to focus, or accomodate, is called presbyopia and its earliest symptom is difficulty seeing things that are close up. Until now, the only solution was reading glasses. Dr. Akler, at the Castleman Eye Center, offers the Crystalens® which reduces or eliminates dependence on corrective lenses for both distance and near vision.

What is Crystalens®?

Crystalens® is an implanted replacement lens that works naturally with the eye's focusing muscle to rejuvinate the vision to a youthful state. It turns back time by mimicking the eye's natural process of focusing up close, far away and everywhere in between.

Advantages of Crystalens®:

FDA Clinical Study Results:

  • 98.4% of patients can read a newspaper without glasses
  • 98.4% of patients pass their driver's test without glasses
  • 100% of patients can see at intermediate distances (24 to 30 inches) without glasses

FDA Clincial Study:

  • Corrects most ranges of nearsightedness and farsightedness
  • Rapid visual recovery
  • Eliminates the need for future cataract surgery

Who is a Good Candidate?

  • People over the age of 45 (reading glasses group)
  • People who wish to be less dependent on glasses for distance, up close and mid-range vision
  • People with cataracts who are under the age of 65

Flex Plans

A Flex Plan (FP) or a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a benefit package option developed to provide you with flexibility and choice for healthcare including vision correction. Unlike your traditional medical benefits package, these plans are set up by your employer and they are tax sheltered. Each pay period, your FP or FSA dollars are withdrawn from your paycheck before taxes, which allows you and your dependents to use your health expense money without being taxed on it.

Will My Insurance Cover Vision Correction?

A few insurance companies do pay for all or part of vision correction procedures. You can check with your plan administrator, or we will be happy to make a copy of your insurance card and check coverage for you.
