Introducing CustomVue™ Advanced Lasik

Dr. Akler can now offer our patients visual correction to a level never before achievable. The results often surpass the best possible vision provided by glasses or contact lenses. (Click to learn more. . . )

LASIK is refractive laser surgery that "reshapes vision"; therefore, eliminating the dependence on glasses or contact lenses. During the procedure, a computer, programmed by the doctor for each person's own correction factors, controls the laser and the reshaping of the cornea. The procedure is quick, painless and has minimal recovery time.

Refractive surgery has been performed since the early 1970's to improve nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. These conditions of the eye are due to the abnormal shape of the cornea:

  • Myopia is caused by a steeply curved cornea or elongated eye.
  • Hyperopia is when the cornea is too flat or the eye is too short.
  • Astigmatism is when the cornea is irregular and egg-shaped.

The result of a misshaped cornea is blurred near vision, distant vision or both.

At the Castleman Eye Center, we have been performing refractive surgery since 1987 and have had the opportunity to successfully relieve thousands and thousands of patients from the burden and expense of corrective lenses.
